Plane Crash Kills 66 From Military and Police in Colombia

Plane Crash Kills 66 Colombian Officers. Wars and Peace Both Claim Lives.

A plane carrying 66 members of Colombia's military and police forces crashed, killing all aboard. The aircraft was involved in operations related to Colombia's ongoing security challenges.

Military aviation accidents remain tragically common worldwide. In 2023 alone: Russian military plane crashed killing 74, Greek F-16 crashed killing pilot, multiple helicopter crashes in various conflicts. Since 2000, Colombia has lost hundreds of military personnel to both combat and accidents. The country's armed forces operate in difficult terrain during decades-long internal conflicts, making aviation risks higher than peacetime operations.

Whether you donate to Colombian relief organizations. Whether you pause to acknowledge that people you'll never meet died serving their country. Whether you check on any Colombian friends or contacts you may have.

Unless you have personal connections to Colombia or work in military aviation safety: awareness and brief acknowledgment of loss is sufficient. This is tragedy, not crisis requiring your action.
