Heavy snow and rainfall kill 61, injure 110 over 3 days in Afghanistan

Heavy Snow Kills 61 in Afghanistan. Winter Remains Undefeated.

Severe winter weather across Afghanistan killed 61 people and injured 110 others over a three-day period. Heavy snowfall and rainfall caused the casualties through various weather-related incidents.

Afghanistan faces deadly winter weather regularly due to mountainous terrain and limited infrastructure. In 2022, flooding and winter storms killed over 180 people. The country's harsh geography has claimed lives seasonally for centuries - the Hindu Kush mountains create severe weather patterns that modern infrastructure still struggles to mitigate. Even before current political instability, Afghanistan averaged 100+ weather-related deaths annually.

Whether you donate to established disaster relief organizations working in Afghanistan. Checking on any Afghan contacts you may have. Avoiding speculation about causes you cannot verify.

Unless you have personal connections to Afghanistan or work in disaster relief: awareness only. This is a tragedy worthy of acknowledgment, not personal anxiety.
